Dean’s Dispatch
Sitting
at my desk seems just a little unfamiliar. Over the last two weeks, I have
spent more time at Christian camps than I have in Westwood. Two weeks ago, I
had the opportunity to teach at the Wakatomika Youth Preacher Camp sponsored by
GAP Ministries. There were eight teenage
boys who participated in the camp, and each of them had the chance to preach in
one of the local congregations on Wednesday night. It was a fantastic week as
we were able to spend time studying, learning to preach, and fellowshipping
with those of like precious faith.
Last
week, my entire family was given the opportunity to assist at Howell’s Mill
Christian Assembly as they hosted their 3rd – 5th Grade
week of camp. It was an amazing time as all four of us were able to share in
the wonderful Christian atmosphere of camp and to be able to serve the Lord
through this ministry.
Both
of these weeks were great reminders to me that the kingdom of God goes well
beyond the walls of any church building. His kingdom extends to the four
corners of the earth and beyond. To be able to experience a small glimpse of
the immense extent of the church was a thrilling experience. As I return to the
daily “work” of ministry, I am humbly reminded of what Paul wrote to the church
in Corinth, “I have become all
things to all men, so that I may by all means save some.” 1
Corinthians 9:22
Even
though we may each only be able to make a very small difference in our world,
working together with the Lord’s strength, we will have a mighty impact on our
society. I want to encourage each one who reads these words to use their
abilities, whatever they may be, for the glory of God and for the building up
of His kingdom!
Because
He lives,
